Check Presque Isle VINELink

A Presque Isle County VINELink inmate check is one way to learn whether a person is in custody after an arrest. Michigan runs the service under the name MI-VINE. The public search lives on VINELink. It sends notices about release, transfer, and other custody changes. Coverage depends on the agency. The Presque Isle County Jail does not advertise a VINE feed, so an empty search proves nothing. Match names carefully. Call the jail when the arrest is fresh or the matter is urgent.

Check a Presque Isle Person on VINELink

Search for one person, not a browse list. Gather exact identifying details first, because similar names can return more than one Presque Isle County record.

  1. Open VINELink. Use the Michigan person-search route and confirm that Michigan is the selected state.
  2. Choose person search. Do not substitute a provider or facility search for the individual lookup.
  3. Enter exact identifiers. Use the legal name or an available identification number and avoid relying only on a nickname.
  4. Compare every match. Check name, age or birth details, agency or facility, and custody status before deciding that a result is the right person.
  5. Read the event time. Review the displayed status and last-update information so an older transfer or release is not mistaken for current jail custody.
  6. Verify a missing result. Call the Presque Isle County Jail at 989-734-2156 if the person is absent or the arrest is fresh.

The VINELink Michigan person-search page is the direct interface observed during research.

VINELink Michigan person custody search screen

The VINELink screen searches by name. It is no county arrest roster. The Presque Isle County arrest guide explains where to request the underlying Sheriff booking record and how court records differ from custody notices.

What a VINELink Result Can Show

The live record controls which fields appear. Treat any result as a status notice inside a participating system, not a full criminal history or final case record.

Result elementHow to use it
Name and identifierCompare all identifiers to avoid selecting a person with a similar name.
Agency or facilityShows the system reporting the event, which may differ from the arresting agency.
Custody statusMay describe custody, release, transfer, or another event supported by that record.
Last updateHelps reveal whether the information may lag a new booking or later move.
Notification optionsAvailable event types and delivery methods depend on the live record.
Court-related eventCan prompt a court check but does not replace the official docket or disposition.

Note: A release notice means a custody status changed; it does not mean the charge was dismissed or the case ended.

Register for Michigan Custody Alerts

Registration starts from the correct person's result. The live screen sets the alert choices. Michigan materials list phone, text, email, TTY, and app options, plus a four-digit PIN for telephone access.

  1. Confirm the match. Open the correct Michigan record and recheck the person, agency, facility, and status.
  2. Select notification. Choose “Get Notified” or the equivalent control available on the result.
  3. Choose the event. Select from the custody or case events offered, such as release or transfer.
  4. Add a contact method. Enter the phone, text destination, email, TTY, or app option shown by the service.
  5. Set the phone PIN. Keep the four-digit PIN private and use it as directed when telephone notices arrive.
  6. Save the confirmation. Review the registration and manage or update it through VINELink when needed.

The VINELink notification route leads to notification management. The JavaScript application may still route registration through a live person result.

Keep private details off shared screens, since a phone number, email address, PIN, or victim information should never sit where others can read it.

CodeRED Is Not a Custody Check

Presque Isle County also promotes CodeRED for a different job. The official CodeRED page covers community alerts. Expect missing people, severe weather, evacuations, criminal activity, road closures, and other urgent local events. It is not a booking roster. It is not a release-alert service either. MI-VINE handles custody and victim notice when an agency takes part. CodeRED handles community warnings. Neither one replaces a Sheriff records request or a court docket.

Presque Isle VINELink Limits

A fresh booking may not show up right away. Transport, intake, agency participation, or data lag can hold the record back. Someone can also be released, moved, or listed under another spelling. Use the Daily Arrest Report process and call 989-734-2156 when time matters.

Verify directly: do not wait for an automated alert when immediate safety or custody information is needed; call the jail or emergency services as appropriate.

MI-VINE is not the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator. It is not the ICE Online Detainee Locator either. Federal or immigration detention needs those separate official systems. OTIS from the Michigan Department of Corrections has its own scope too, covering state prisoners, parolees, probationers, and certain recent discharges. That is not the county jail roster.

The same line holds after release. A person can leave county custody while a criminal case stays open. A notification only marks that moment. The release notice does not erase the booking file. OTIS may be the better source under MDOC supervision. No custody? The court docket traces hearings and outcomes. The 89th District Court and 53rd Circuit Court keep that case path. Charges can still move through amendment, dismissal, plea, or trial.

Verify a Presque Isle Custody Match

Match the strongest identifiers first. Compare a VINE result against what the jail tells you. Then check it against any court case tied to the arrest. A shared name alone proves little in Presque Isle County, where families often repeat surnames across generations. When the jail confirms a booking, ask two things. Which agency holds the arrest report? Was the person released or transferred somewhere else?

Custody can end while a record lives on. Someone may no longer be held in the Presque Isle County jail. That person may still have a historical booking on file with the Sheriff. Request it in writing at 267 N 2nd St., Rogers City, MI 49779, with "ATTN: Records" on the envelope. State the person's name, the date range, and the agency. Add any known number and the exact record you want.

Keep your alert details fresh. If your phone or email changes, go back into notification management and update the method. Save enough notes to recall which person and case the registration covers. Guard the PIN and your private contact details. Delivery choices can shift with the live record, so the options VINELink displays are the ones that govern.

Note: Current custody, release, a pending charge, and a final court disposition are four different facts held by different sources.
